Mr Eazi, a Nigerian musician, dilettante, and business mogul, traveled to Venice, Italy, with actress Temi Otedola to record a music video for his new track “Legalize,” which was produced by Michael Brun (Haiti/USA), E Kelly (Nigeria), and Nonso Amadi (Nigeria/Canada). The beautiful background for Mr Eazi’s proclamation of love to Otedola in the clip was the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, as well as the Punta Della Dogana and Palazzo Grimani museums (and in real life, as the singer took this opportunity to propose).
“Legalize” is the first single off his next album, which will be released after his mixtapes. Life is Eazi, Vol. 1: From Accra to Lagos and Vol. 2: From Lagos to London, as well as his EPs, You’ll realize it one day. The musician’s love of art, which is evident in the clip’s location, will be evident throughout this new project. Each track will be the subject of a specially commissioned artwork by an African artist. Mr Eazi collaborated on the new afrobeats tune “Legalize” with Beninese painter Patricorel, who created a picture for the occasion as well.
Mr Eazi announced his intention to compose music for himself last year, during the release of Something Else. “I’d reached a point where I’d become tired of just making tracks for the sake of making hits,” he explained at the time. “I want to do music for myself and make what I want to make because I’ve earned a spot where I don’t have to chase after something.”Mr Eazi satisfies his fans with this profoundly intimate music.
“It’s more like this song is for me,”
Mr. Eazi confirmed. “A lot of the album I’m working on feels that way. I am making music for myself.”
