Gyakie Releases “SCAR” Featuring JBEE

The latest collaboration between the rising Ghanaian Afro-fusion artist, Gyakie, and North London’s very own Rap artist JBEE? They have recently released their newest single, ‘SCAR‘, which is a powerful and emotional R&B cut with a touch of Hip-Hop.

The song tells the story of a love gone wrong from both sides, with Gyakie representing pain and JBEE focusing on doubts and insecurities. The beat, created by Sosa, is a well-crafted drill beat with ominous production underscored by heavy 808s. The song showcases both artists’ hard-hitting lyrics, with softer melodies featured in JBEE’s verse.

The visuals for ‘SCAR’ are just as powerful as the lyrics, with Gyakie and JBEE both telling their sides of the story before coming together in the final scenes. The use of red tones throughout represents the love and pain in the story. The video was directed by Craig Capone, who has worked with artists like Headie One, Sarkodie, Chip, and Ms Banks, and Romara Blake, who is known for her work with Eva Lazarus.

Gyakie has been making waves since her debut single, ‘Love is Pretty,’ in 2019. She has collaborated with AKA, Diplo, Blaq Jerzee, Major League DJz, and Mayorkun. Her breakout single, ‘Forever,’ has gained international recognition and has over 150 million streams across platforms.

JBEE, on the other hand, is a fresh face in British Rap, paving his own lane. In 2021, he released ‘4AM,’ gaining over 77 million streams and currently reaching 3.7 million monthly Spotify listeners. He was even nominated for Best Newcomer at the MOBO awards in 2021.

Gyakie was thrilled to work with JBEE, saying, “Working with JBEE brought a different dimension to Scar. For me, this was such a great experience to bring our two sounds together to create a deep yet catchy single that is relatable to audiences across continents.”

JBEE also commented on the collaboration, saying, “Even though I am London born and raised, I’m Ghanaian myself, and I’m so happy we got to collaborate and make this track. I hope the fans love this one seeing two worlds collide! The collaborative track provides heart-wrenching insight into contemporary relationships laced with authenticity that is sure to resonate with music fans across continents.”

Overall, ‘SCAR’ is a powerful and relatable song that will surely resonate with listeners across continents.
